The bride’s hands and feet are decorated with beautiful henna designs, while family and friends gather to enjoy music, food, and conversation. Many guests also choose to have small Mehndi designs, making the celebration interactive and fun for everyone.
Mehndi is an important part of the Indian Wedding Timeline, usually taking place before the Sangeet Ceremony, Haldi Ceremony, and the wedding day itself.

As photographers, Mehndi is one of our favorite events because everything happens naturally.
There are no strict timelines or formal moments. Instead, we capture genuine smiles, family interactions, colorful outfits, detailed henna artwork, flowers, jewelry, and all the little moments that often become some of our couples’ favorite photographs.
Since Mehndi is much more relaxed than the wedding day, it gives us plenty of opportunities to create natural portraits and documentary-style images before the excitement of the Baraat and ceremony begins.
TIPS FOR A GREAT MEHNDI
Wear something comfortable since applying Mehndi can take several hours. Plan enough time for portraits once the henna is finished because this is when the designs look their best.
Fresh flowers, colorful décor, and comfortable seating make a big difference. Even a simple setup creates beautiful photographs and makes the celebration feel more personal.
If your Mehndi includes dancing, don’t be afraid to enjoy it. Some of the most natural photographs happen during these unscripted moments, just like they do during the Indian Wedding Dances later in the celebration.
